The system operates in a similar manner to any satellite-based TV system, except that it operates under strict communication controls and is only receivable by the intended recipients. In other words it's private and secure!

For the school classroom environment, a convenient, all-in-one, appliance called the i-Box™ has been developed to provide a portable solution, requiring only power input and a connection to a standard satellite dish. It consists of:

  • a satellite receiver
  • a video decoder
  • a projector
  • a modem
  • audio speakers

Upon completion of the lesson, the local teacher can safely store the i-Box away, without employing any costly security measures.

The i-Box comes in a variety of configurations, such as a stand alone reception device, or as part of a local area network where multiple devices are fed from a single satellite dish. In addition, the i-Box can be set up to store broadcasted lessons, off-line web sites, educational software, such as Encyclopedia Britannica, or other multi-media presentation tools.

The I Box comes with a set of clickers which are handed out to each student. Upon the announcement over satellite TV, learners switch on their clickers and log in with their unique ID. The learner’s presence is confirmed and listed in the online database.

During the broadcast lesson, the TV studio-based teacher will present scheduled topics followed by a series of multiple choice questions which are answered through input as numerical, alphabetical or “true” / “false” buttons on the clicker.

In the event that the school has a computer lab, the students can use the computer to log in and do not require a clicker.

The results are collected and immediately transmitted to the studio, where they are displayed on the TV screen. The teacher then makes a decision whether to move on to the next topic or reinforce the previous one.

Upon completion of the lesson, semester or course, the teacher or administrator will be able to generate further statistical reports to gauge the learning impact taking place.
